30 Days of LJ - Day 17: An Art Piece

This was a little tough to settle on. I love Ron Mueck, and Thomas Doyle. Mark Ryden, Brandi Milne, Charlie Immer ... they are so amazing. And then there is Salvador Dali & MC Escher, the two that first made me fall in love with art. So, after the cut, I'm including my favorite piece by each of the people I just listed.

If I could own an actual piece by Thomas Doyle, I'd be one of the happiest people alive. I have $20 prints by the other artists framed, but that's as close as I'll ever get, I think.

30 Days of LJ - Day 16: A Song That Makes You Cry

Cat Stevens was one of my dad's favorite musicians, and I remember when I was about seven or eight-years-old, he took my hand and we danced to this song in the living room. And he said, 'this is the song we're going to dance to when you get married'. I miss him every single day, but there are days when I can't even listen to this song without sobbing within the first ten seconds.

30 Days of LJ - Day 15: Something That is Currently Over-Rated

I'm going to make a list, since there will always be a steady supply of people, subjects, and things that are over-rated.

- tattoos. yes, I said tattoos.
- stretch ears.
- anything to do with vampires.
- Lost.
- Lady Gaga (I love what she stands for, and I love her music videos, but her lyrics are absolute shit).
- Glee.
- Dita Von Teese.
- Miley Cyrus.
- Rhianna.
- Nirvana.
- Megan Fox.

Okay, you know what? I'm just going to stop this list now. I could probably go on forever.

30 Days of LJ - Day 14: A Non-Fiction Book

This really is one of the only non-fiction books I've ever been interested in reading. It takes A LOT for me to want to read non-fiction. I don't know why exactly. The argument that I prefer to escape into a made up world doesn't really work, since I love documentaries. Either way, my fascination with what happened at Columbine overrides my disinterest in non-fiction.

30 Days of LJ - Day 13: A Fictional Book

The book I have been in the middle of reading for months now. I read a few pages, and then go on to another book. I do this once and awhile with books, for some reason. It's not that it isn't interesting, because it definitely it. I just ... don't want to rush it.

30 Days of LJ - Day 12: Something Random

I always develop weird crushes. I get made fun of all the time by my friend James for crushing on Jeff Goldblum, and recently I told him that one of my earliest crushes was Diedrich Bader (Oswald from The Drew Carey Show), and now I'll never live that one down.

30 Days of LJ - Day 6: Something Random

I seriously don't even know what to do for this. I have so many things on my mind right now, it's hard to think of something as simple as writing about something random.

I was talking to my friends James today, about how early we can remember in our lives. I said the earliest birthday I remember having was when I was about seven-years-old, and I had a 'Where's Waldo?' themed party. I was such a tomboy. I had barbies & dolls, but I always preferred to play in the mud & climb trees. So, my birthday parties were never pink & frilly.
So I had a few friends; Amanda Ellacott, Amanda Oldfield, Josh Payne, Sonia Sandhu, & Brandy Austin. I guess another random thing I could write about is my weird memory. I remember what I was wearing on certain days (for example: what I wore when I saw Sarah's daughter mere hours after she was born), I remember names of people I haven't seen in years whereas they probably don't remember me, and I remember dates really well. It's ridiculous.
Anyway, I had my friends over, we had cake my mom made from scratch, and the table cloth was a Waldo print. His face on a postage stamp, as well as tons of other characters faces on postage stamps. And you had to find his face (obviously).
I remember my brother's were crying most of the time, because none of the presents were for them.
I got a lot of clothes, a few dolls that I fucking hated (thanks to the mother's of my friends who didn't know me at all and assumed I was just like every other little girl), and my dad and I made a huge snow-fort outside that night.
Most of my memories involve him some how, and I think that's why I keep such a hold on them.
